Pedri says he wants to stay at Barcelona, but Premier League move cannot be ruled out

It has been a difficult year for Pedri so far. The youngster picked up a thigh injury during the Europa League clash against Manchester United earlier in the year, which ruled him out for several weeks.

The midfielder was tipped to return to Barcelona’s second-leg semifinal against Real Madrid, in the Copa Del Rey. But he has faced the latest setback, picking up a relapse that has set his return date back to a further three or four weeks.

In the midst of his woes with injury, Pedri has recently addressed his future in a recent press interaction.

The youngster doubled down on his desire to continue at Barcelona. But at the same time, he offered a potential hint that he would open to a move to England sometime in the future.

“Moving to the Premier League in the future? I hope to stay in Barcelona for many more years but nothing can be ruled out,” Pedri told Diario SPORT.

Formerly of Las Palmas, Pedri has enjoyed a rapid rise to prominence since his move to Catalonia. He has racked up over 100 competitive matches for the club despite his tender age of 20. He is regarded as one of the best midfield talents produced by Barça in recent years.

Therefore, it is no secret that Pedri has great admirers from all across Europe. To that end, the youngster being open about a potential move to England could set a bad precedence for Barcelona.

However, it must be noted that the 20-year-old is more than likely to continue at Barcelona and is not expected to leave anytime soon. But in the long run, Barça may have a battle in their hands to keep hold of the star midfielder.
