Barcelona vice-president on Ansu Fati’s situation: “Can’t guarantee 100% if he will stay”

Ansu Fati has lived a turbulent week in Barcelona. As if the pressure on his shoulders was already not enough, his father’s explosive interview with repeated digs at the club just adds weight to his difficult situation.

Barcelona vice-president Rafa Yuste recently spoke at a press conference at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper during the presentation of the Barca Academy World Cup and touched upon the topic of the La Masia graduate in his interaction.

Commenting on Fati’s lack of minutes with the first team, Yuste enlisted the various factors and decision-makers in the team. However, he maintained that the administration still trusted the youngster. When asked if Fati would remain at the club beyond the summer, he said (h/t SPORT_:

“You ask me a question. I can’t guarantee that Ansu Fati will 100% stay because it doesn’t depend on me. There is a coach, a technical secretariat, and a director. They give the board of directors their message and their vision. What I can tell you is that today the coach counts 100% on him.”

The vice president then gave his two cents about Bori Fati’s comments against the club earlier this week and showed that the club understood the reason behind his frustration. This, needless to say, will come as a relief for the youngster.

“As a father sometimes you let yourself be carried away by emotion, you think about your son and nothing else. It doesn’t go any further, so I understand it perfectly.

Ansu is totally focused and involved in the project and has a crazy desire to succeed here. He’s giving everything to have the minutes I’ve always told his father and him, what he’s going to have.”

Fati is expected to start when Barcelona take on Elche in the week given Ousmane Dembele and Raphinha’s absences. It would be the right opportunity for the prodigy to step up and prove that he is here to stay.

In 24 league appearances for Barcelona this season, Fati has scored only three goals and provided three assists. Further, he has created just one big chance while missing six.
